Saint David's Parish School, located in Tea Tree Gully, first opened its doors on February 7, 1977. With a focus on providing a competitive primary education option for families in Adelaide's North Eastern suburbs, the school currently serves approximately 350 students from Reception to Year 6. As a warm, co-educational Catholic primary school, we celebrate diversity and welcome families from various cultural and economic backgrounds.
Our campus features modern facilities designed to enhance student learning and engagement. Key facilities include:
Saint David's is proud of its diverse community, with 85% of our families identifying as Australian. Other backgrounds represented include Chilean, Croatian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Lebanese, Polish, Welsh, and Russian. While many of our students come from local areas, we are seeing an increase in enrolments from the Adelaide Hills region.
We offer specialised programs tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. These include:
Additionally, we provide a Playgroup once a week during term time for children aged 0-4 years who are not yet attending preschool.
Saint David's offers a variety of extra-curricular sports programs including swimming, athletics, cross country, netball, soccer, football, touch football, and cricket. We also host an annual School Sports Carnival and participate in numerous inter-school sporting events. For those interested in the arts, we have a School Choir, and an extensive Instrumental Music Program. Annual school camps are organised starting from Year 3.
Saint David's Parish School was established under the guidance of the Sisters of St. Joseph until 1998 when it transitioned to being staffed by educational professionals. The school maintains strong ties with the Parish of Tea Tree Gully, located next door. Priests actively participate in school events and celebrations throughout the academic year.
The area is rich in history, originally inhabited by the Kaurna people who lived along the Little Para River. The name "Tea Tree Gully" reflects the native tea trees that once flourished in the region. The area was known as Steventon prior to officially adopting its current name in the early 1900s.
Saint David's Parish School nurtures each child’s potential within a supportive community grounded in Christian values. We invite you to join us!
